San Bernardino is the county seat for San Bernardino County, California, and it boasts a rich and colorful history. One of the things the city is known for is for its location along the famous Route 66. Every year, the city hosts a special event - the Route 66 Rendezvous, which is a four-day celebration of the historic stretch of highway. The city even has a Route 66 museum, located on the former site of the first McDonald's Restaurant, which was constructed in 1948.

Fullerton Museum of Art features Egyptian exhibits, Italian pottery, Chinese funeral art, and contemporary art exhibitions. The San Bernardino Railroad and History Museum is located in the historic Santa Fe Depot. Other museums include the American Sports Museum and the Inland Empire Military Museum.
Residents and visitors to the city can enjoy the sounds of the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra at the city's California Theatre or attend other events at the San Manuel Amphitheater, the Coussoulis Arena, or the Sturges Center for the Fine Arts.
San Bernardino celebrates the citrus industry's importance in the area with the annual National Orange Show Festival. In addition to lots of oranges and other citrus fruits, there are carnival games, booths, amusement rides, a petting zoo, BMX stunt performers, and a classic car show. The festival draws more than 40,000 people per year.
